Information for Authors

Author Collection Tool

The author collection tool (Register) allows an author to create a collection of their own articles indexed by Citebase.

  1. Register for a new username and password
  2. Perform a search for your articles (e.g. using your name)
  3. To add a paper to your collection click the '+' that is next to your name

Once you have created a collection you can generate reports on the citation and downloads found for those articles (links from the Register page when you're logged in).

Adding a Citebase bibliography to your own Homepage

The author collection tool can generate an HTML fragment that can be included in other Web pages using server-side scripting (e.g. PHP) or server-side includes (whose syntax will depend upon your Web server software). In addition to a citation to your article (linked to Citebase), the number of Citebase-identified citations and downloads is given.

If your Web server supports PHP (you will normally need to give your Web page a .php extension) you can include this HTML fragment as follows (where X is your unique Citebase user id):

<?php include("http://citebase.eprints.org/cgi-bin/register?bibliography=X"); ?>

Other Questions

How can I add my paper to Citebase?

Citebase harvests papers from a number of eprint archives. When a new paper is deposited/published in an archive Citebase will retrieve the paper, index it in the search engine, parse and link it's references. That paper can then be viewed in citebase by supplying an "identifier=oai:identifier" argument to the citations script, e.g.:
http://citebase.eprints.org/cgi-bin/citations?identifier=oai:arXiv.org:hep-th/0001001.

Citebase does not accept paper deposits directly.

If you have deposited your paper in an archive not indexed by Citebase you may like to ask the archive administrator to contact Citebase for inclusion.

Citebase hasn't parsed/linked/cited my references?

Citebase is automated, that is it is only as good as the rules that have been coded into it to cope with different formats of document, styles of reference, and so on. If you think Citebase has made a mistake CONTACT US providing the URL of your paper, the paper(s) that haven't been linked correctly to/from your paper, and a description of the problem. Please provide the URL at the top of your email along with a brief description of the problem, otherwise the more information provided the easier it is to solve problems.
